DUSHANBE, January 14, 2014, Asia-Plus — Dubai-based flydubai has announced the launch of its official Facebook page.  The airline reportedly plans to use the popular social media channel to engage with fans through news updates, product and network information, promotions and competitions.

According to the flydubai press center, with more than 27,000 people having already liked its Facebook page before the first post, flydubai plans to build a community of fans across the 34 countries it flies to.

The page will be in English but some geo-targeted posts will be made in Arabic and Russian.  flydubai”s Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/flydubai.

“We are very excited to be launching Facebook, the cornerstone of our social media presence, which we will continue to develop going forward,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.  “We place great value on listening to our customers, as the recent introduction of our Business Class shows.  Giving our customers a platform such as Facebook to communicate with us will help us reflect their feedback and better meet their needs.”

flydubai is already present on YouTube with nearly half a million views, became active on LinkedIn last year with more than 13,000 followers and more recently launched Instagram, which has over 1,300 fans.

We will recall that flydubai, one of the national airlines of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), commenced its flights from Dubai to Dushanbe in the beginning of May 2013.

Founded in 2008, Flydubai launched its operations in 2009.  Flydubai has built up a network of over 65 destinations with 16 new routes, including Dushanbe, joining the network in 2013.  The airline’s fleet consists of 33 Boeings 737-800.

Within the next two years the company expects to receive the remaining aircraft from the order placed in 2008, and also company just announced its commitment to order another 100 Boeings 737 MAX and 11 Boeings 737-800sNG deliveries of which will commence in the second half of 2017 and continue until the end of 2023.
