DUSHANBE, January 22, 2014, — Two high-ranking officers from the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan have been arrested for taking bribe, according the Agency for Sate Financial Control and Combating Corruption.

An official source at the anticorruption agency says that Anvar Hojiyev, the head of the customs control point “Terminal” of the Customs Service’s office in Dushanbe, and Sharifkhon Nosirov, the head of the customs control point “Regar” of the Customs Service’s office in Tursunzoda, have demanded bribe of 15,000 U.S. dollars from a citizen of Tajikistan for placing in job at the customs service agency.

“Nosirov was caught read-handed while taking the bribe 13,000 U.S. dollars,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt customs officers and an investigation is under way.
