DUSHANBE, July 17, 2014, Asia-Plus — Members of Tajikistan’s upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament have given consent to prosecution of Jalol Isroilov, the judge at the High Economic Court of Tajikistan.

A session of the Majlisi Milli took place in Dushanbe on July 17 and the Majlisi Milli members gave consent to prosecution of Judge Jalol Isroilov.

Speaking at the session, Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda noted that the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption accused Jalol Isroilov of taking bribe.

“Judge Jalol Isroilov demanded 8,000 U.S. dollars for assistance in overruling the decision of the head of the Mastchoh district and Sughd Economic Court against the head of one of farming units operating in the Mastchoh district,” Tajik chief prosecutor noted.

According to him, the judge did not keep his promise and the farming unit head demanded that the judge return 8,000 U.S. dollars.

“Isroilov returned 2,180 U.S. dollars through his son, who was detained while giving money and witnessed against his father,” Salimzoda said.

He further added that in a letter to the head of the anticorruption agency Isroilov had admitted his guilt and paid the remaining amount.
