DUSHANBE, July 17, 2014, Asia-Plus – According to the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES), 52 natural disasters have been registered in the country over the first six months of this year and 27 people have been killed in those disasters.

Over the same period last year, nine people were killed by natural disasters.

A large number of natural disasters has been reported in January-June this year in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan) – 19 cases, Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) – 12 cases, Khatlon province – 9 cases, Hisor Valley (central Tajikistan), Sughd province and Dushanbe – 4 cases each.

A damage that was caused by natural disasters over the first six months this year has been estimated at some 40 million somoni, which is 20 million somoni fewer than in the same period last year.
