DUSHANBE, July 24, 2014, Asia-Plus — By July 24, Tajik farmers have produced 545,000 tons of cereals, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

An official source at a MoA says average cereal yields have amounted to 30.0 tons per hectare.  

This year, Tajik farmers have reportedly planted cereals on 291,822 hectares.  

Last year, Tajik farmers reportedly yielded 891,500 tons of cereals from 315,400 hectares.  

This year, Tajikistan is expected to yield 1.3 million tons of cereals, including 890,000 tons of wheat.

Tajikistan’s current annual requirements in wheat are reportedly 1.5 million tons.  Kazakhstan provides 70 percent of Tajikistan’s wheat imports.
