DUSHANBE, November 7, 2014, Asia-Plus — Organized by the European Commission, a conference aimed at promoting sustainable-energy-policy developments in Central Asia, took place in Brussels on November 6.

The European Commission notes that the one-day conference entitled “Sustainable Energy in Central Asia: Business Opportunities and Technology Transfer” also focused on the private business opportunities for renewable energy production in Central Asia — including wind power, solar power, and hydroelectric power.

Energy and resource officials from the governments of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as senior energy officials from the European Commission, development bankers, and private-sector specialists in the field of renewable energy participated in the conference that was held in three sessions: 1) Promoting Sustainable Energy in Central Asia; 2) Financing Sustainable Energy in Central Asia; and 3) Deploying Sustainable Energy Projects.
