DUSHANBE, November 24, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Sunday November 23, a Tajik government delegation led by Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov was received in Kuwait City by His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides exchanged views on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait.
Aslov reportedly noted that expansion of bilateral cooperation with Kuwait was one of priorities of Tajikistan’s foreign policy and expressed hope that the ministries and the agencies of the two countries would continue close cooperation both in bilateral format and through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
Aslov handed over to Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah an invitation for the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah IV Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah GCB (Hon) to pay an official visit to Tajikistan at any convenient time.
On the same day, Sirojiddin Aslov held bilateral talks with Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and National Assembly (Kuwaiti Parliament) Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem.
We will recall that Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov heading a Tajik government delegation arrived in Kuwait for an official visit on November 22.
The delegation members include Minister of energy and Water Resources Usmonali Usmonzoda, Minister of Transport Khairullo Asozoda and senior representatives of a number of other ministries and agencies.
According to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, trade between Tajikistan and Kuwait over the first ten months of this year has valued at only 30,000 U.S. dollars (USD), which is 40 percent fewer than in the same period last year. This consisted only of Tajikistan’s imports from Kuwait.
