DUSHANBE, November 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — Barqi Tojik will repay its debts to the Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants (HHPs) by January 1, 2015, Barqi Tojik top manager Rustam Rahmatzoda announced at a session of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) on November 26.

According to him Barqi Tojik now owes 418.5 million somoni to the Snagtuda-1 HPP and 165 million somoni to the Sangtuda-2 HPP.

According to him, they have purchased electricity from the mentioned power plants at 0.15 somoni per one kWh and sold it to consumers at 0.11 somoni per one kWh that has led to increase in the company’s debts. 

Rahmatzoda also noted that the rate of the collection of funds from the public and enterprises had increased, reaching 81.2 percent.

“This summer, Tajikistan exported some 1.2 billion kWh of electricity for a total amount of 35.4 million U.S. dollars,” Barqi Tojik top manager noted said.

On Barqi Tojik’s wage debts, Rahmatzoda noted that they will be repaid before the end of this year.   Barqi Tojik’s wage debts have reached 59.8 million somoni.
