DUSHANBE, December 15, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik national, A.S., was busted at the Dushanbe airport with a substantive amount of U.S. dollars at the end of the last week, an official source at the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus on Monday.

An inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Urumqi (China) flight found in his luggage 172,987 U.S. dollars in cash which he had failed to declare as is required, the source said.

Amount over of 10,000 U.S. dollars must be declared at the border when it is taken out of Tajikistan.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
