DUSHANBE, December 24, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Government has offered to exempt currency, medicine, gemstone and precious metal imports from customs duties.

“The Government has drafted a bill offering amendments to the country’s Customs Code,” Sharofiddin Sirojev, the member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) Committee on Finance and Economics, told Asia-Plus in an interview.   

“The Government, in particular, offers to exempt gemstones and precious metals delivered to the country by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) and the Ministry of Finance as well as medicines and currencies delivered to the country by all categories of persons from customs duties,” said Sirojev.  “Besides, the bill provides for granting a customs duty payment deferment to separate legal entities.”
