DUSHANBE, January 5, 2015, Asia-Plus — Three new corporate residents were registered with the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ Sughd) on December 31, 2014, bringing the total number of corporate residents registered with the FEZ Sughd to 21, according to the FEZ Sughd press center.

Limited liability companies Mebel (Furniture) and Somon Energy as well as private entrepreneur R.R. Abdullo-Zade were registered with the FEZ Sughd.

Mebel (Furniture) reportedly produces building materials such as laminated boards, wood-chip boards and different types of plywood.

The scientific-and-innovative company Somon Energy is engaged in production of compact energy saving bulbs.

Private entrepreneur R.R. Abdullo-Zade plans to organize production of natural fruit and vegetable juices, the source said.

The Sughd Free Economic Zone or FEZ Sughd is a free economic zone located in the northern Sughd province on the territory of the south-west industrial zone of the city of Khujand.  FEZ Sughd was created in 2008 by a parliamentary decree on 320 hectares of land for 25 years and began operating in August 2009. In 2010, the Administration of the FEZ Sughd registered the first five corporate residents of the free economic zone.  The zone offers customs and tax incentives to qualified investors that invest at least 500,000 USD and import at least 90% of the technology and equipment.
