DUSHANBE, January 26, 2015, Asia-Plus — The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to support the self-propelled candidate Bahrom Abduaminov in the Shohmansour constituency (Dushanbe).

“Bahrom Abduaminov is the head of the office of the State Committee on Land Management and Geodesy in Dushanbe.  Abduaminov is the member of the People’s Democratic Party and our party has decided to support him in the Shohmansour constituency,” Usmon Soliyev, the head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

We will recall that under the country’s election, the PDP cannot nominate a new candidate to run for election to parliament in the Shohmansour constituency instead of Suhrob Sharipov, who died on January 19.

Tajikistan’s election legislation bans nomination of candidates after completion of the candidate nomination process, which was finished on January 14.

Now seven candidates will compete for seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) in the Shohmansour constituency, including Ruqiya Nouri nominated by the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) and Ahmadsho Komilzoda nominated by the Democratic Party (DPT).

Ms. Ruqiya Nouri is the daughter of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) founder Said Abdullo Nouri.  She is an expert in politics.  She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Tajik National University and Tehran National University.

Ahmadsho Komilzoda is the activist of the DPT and the known Tajik journalist.

The 2015 parliamentary elections in Tajikistan will take place on March 1, 2015.

Tajikistan’s Parliament (Majlisi Oli) has two chambers: the Assembly of Representatives (Majlisi Namoyandagon) and the National Assembly (Majlisi Milli).  Majlisi Namoyandagon has 63 members, elected for a five-year term in, 22 by proportional representation (party list) and 41 in single-seat constituencies.  Majlisi Milli has 33 members, 25 elected for a five-year term by local legislature (majlis) members and eight appointed by the president.
