DUSHANBE, February 1, 2015, Asia-Plus – Kyrgyzstan has reportedly begun strengthening veterinary and phytosanitary control at the Kyzyl-Bel and Kayragach border crossing points along its common border with Tajikistan.

Radio Liberty’s Kyrgyz Service reports the measures have been taken within the framework of Kyrgyzstan’s integration into the Eurasian Economic Union.

9.5 million U.S. dollars are needed for improvement of veterinary and phytosanitary control at the border crossing points and purchase of the necessary equipment.

The deputy head of the Kyrgyz Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety, Ashyrbay Zhusupov, says the work on improvement of the border crossing points along Kyrgyzstan’s common border with Tajikistan will be completed before May this year.
