DUSHANBE, February 4, 2014, Asia-Plus – Kazakhstan’s news website Bnews.kz quoted Kazakh First Deputy Foreign Minister, Rapil Zhoshybayev, as saying that establishment of a regional water-and-energy consortium would allow solving the problem of rational use of water in the region with regard to interests of all Central Asia’s countries.
“Kazakhstan is ready to consider Tajikistan’s offer for participation in implementation of contract works in the framework of hydroelectricity projects and considers that establishment of a regional water-and-energy consortium would allow solving the problem of rational use of water in the region with regard to interests of all Central Asia’s countries,” Kazakh deputy foreign minister was cited as saying during his visit to Dushanbe.
Kazakh official invited Tajikistan once again to join the Charter of Green Bridge partnership program that had been approved at the UN conference on sustainable development. Mr. Zhoshybayev reportedly noted that that idea was in keeping with Tajik authorities’ initiatives on use of ecologically pure hydropower, environment protection and new technologies transfer.
He confirmed Kazakhstan readiness to assist Tajikistan to join the Islamic Organization for Food Security that was established during the 38th Session of the OIC CFM that took place in Astana, Kazakhstan on June 28-30, 2011. Besides, Kazakhstan is ready pay Tajikistan’s membership fees during three years, Bnews.kz reports.
Rapil Zhoshybayev reportedly arrived in Dushanbe to discuss prospects of further expansion bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and preparations for Expo 2017, an International Exposition scheduled to take place in the Kazakh capital Astana in 2017.
While in Dushanbe, Kazakh official held talks with Davlatali Saidov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Tajik Parviz Davlatzod, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan and Sharif Said, Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan.
