DUSHANBE, February 11, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday February 11, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on the 36th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In his message of congratulations, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan has always attached significance to bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“We consider that expansion of comprehensive cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran, which share common history, language, religion and culture, will serve interests of both nations,” Tajik president noted.

The Iranian Revolution (also known as the Islamic Revolution or the 1979 Revolution) refers to events involving the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi its eventual replacement with an Islamic republic under the Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution, supported by various leftist and Islamic organizations and Iranian student movements.

Iranian media sources report that more than 400 foreign guests have been invited to this year”s ceremonies to mark the 36th anniversary of the Islamic revolution of whom 85 are from the European countries.
