DUSHANBE, February 23, 2015, Asia-Plus — The last meeting of the board (Shuro) of the sixth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) of the fourth convocation took place in Dushanbe today.
Presided over by the Majlisi Namoyandagon Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov, the board discussed amendments proposed to the country’s laws on the constitutional court, holidays, reproductive health and reproductive rights, advertisement, state support for entrepreneurship, competition and restriction of monopolistic activity in the goods market, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The board reportedly also discussed issues related to ratification of an agreement between Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank on the Wholesale Metering and Transmission Reinforcement Project, an agreement between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital, an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Tajik-Chinese Mining Company on a complex exploration of reserves of the Northern Zarnisor deposit, and an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the Nurek Solid Waste Sub Project.
All these issues have been tabled to the agenda of the next sitting of the six session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation that will take place on February 25, Sultonov said, adding that the final sitting of the of the six session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation will be held on February 27.
