DUSHANBE, February 23, 2015, Asia-Plus – An avalanche that occurred on the Shahriston Pass in the northern province of Sughd on February 22 swept a China-made truck “Dulan” into a 300-meter precipice, according to the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan (CES).

“A search operation for bodies of the driver and his two passengers is under way,” Orif Nozimov, a spokesman for the CES, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, several avalanches that occurred in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) yesterday temporarily blocked the roads Dushanbe-Khorog and Khorog-Murgab in some areas.
