QURGHON TEPPA, March 2, 2015, Asia-Plus — Member of Tajikistan’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won in a March 1 parliamentary election, according to the electoral commission in the Vakhsh single-mandate constituency.
“In Vakhsh district, Pro-rector of Tajik National University, Bakhtovar Safarov, 31, won with 89.3 percent of the vote,” the Vakhsh electoral commission head Nemat Zardiyev told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Safarov’s opponents, Qiyomiddin Avazov of the Islamic Revival Party, and self-propelled candidate Qurbonali Sharipov garnered just 4.5 and 5.4 percent respectively, Zardiyev added.
