DUSHANBE, March 11, 2015, Asia-Plus — Top manager of Dushanbe-based private enterprise Ozod-Oil LLC has got a long jail term for tax evasion.

A court in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district sentenced Sadirddin Karimov to seven years in prison on March 11.  Karimov will serve his term a high-security penal colony

Judge Safarbek Nouralizoda, who presided over the trial, says the sentence followed Karimov’s conviction on charges of tax evasion (Article 292 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).  The court also imposed a 2,451,861-somoni fine on Karimov.

“Karimov’s jail term was reduced by a third in accordance with the amnesty declared on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Constitution,” the judge said.
