DUSHANBE, March 12, 2015, Asia-Plus — Police in a Moscow suburb have arrested two men from Central Asia for attempting to sell a newborn girl, Radio Liberty reports.
The Russian Interior Ministry said on March 11 that a 43-year-old man from Tajikistan and a 38-year-old associate from Uzbekistan were arrested in the city of Mytishchi, just outside Moscow, when trying to sell the child for 600 thousand rubles (about $9,800).
The child was born on March 5. Her mother, a 31-year-old woman from Kabardino-Balkaria in Russia”s North Caucasus, was also arrested.
Last year, police in Russia arrested several men and women from Uzbekistan in three separate cases on suspicion of attempting to sell their own newborn or toddler children in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
