DUSHANBE, March 30, 2015, Asia-Plus — The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Office in Sanaa, Yemen is discussing the issue of evacuation of Tajik nationals from Yemen.

IFC is reportedly conducting negotiations with office of Russian medical company Zdravexport in Yemen, which was engaged in sending Tajik medical workers to Yemen.

“First of all, women and children will be evacuated,” Davron Muhammadiyev, IFRC Regional Representative in Russia, told Asia-Plus in an interview on March 30.

According to him, some one thousand Tajik nationals – specialists and their families – are now in Yemen.

“Evacuation of foreign personnel from Yemen began on March 28.  Diplomatic missions active in Yemen evacuate their nationals mainly with the help of military personnel, international organizations and the United Nations,” said Muhammadiyev.  “We hope we will be able to help.”

Meanwhile, Zdravexport employee Manouchehr Abduyev says they are making lists of Tajik nationals staying in Yemen.

“We are closely cooperating with Tajik embassies in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Arab United Emirates, and Egypt,” said Abduyev.  “The Sanaa airport is now in operating condition and UN employees are waiting for air corridor.”

We will recall that Tajik MFA said on March 27 that Tajik Embassy in Qatar is trying to relocate Tajik nationals in Yemen to safer areas before returning them home with the help of Russian authorities and companies.

The ministry said Tajik doctors and nurses working in Yemen went there under contracts obtained through three Russian medical companies.
