DUSHANBE, April 1, 2015, Asia-Plus – Drug control officers reportedly detained three drug peddlers yesterday.

According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press center, a resident of Khatlon province was detained on March 31 on suspicion of drug pushing and a wrap of narcotic drug tested positive to raw opium was confiscated from him.  While searching his home, officers from the DCA’s office in Khatlon found raw opium hidden in a tin of paint.

His accomplice was detained on the same day and seven packages of raw opium were found in his home.  

Besides, a resident of the northern city of Panjakent (Sughd province) was detained on March 31 on suspicion of drug pushing and a wrap of narcotic drug that tested positive to cannabis was confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of Article 220 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
