DUSHANBE, April 8, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov yesterday met here with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, who arrived in Dushanbe on April 6 on a fact-finding visit.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, Sirojiddin Aslov and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Thailand.  In this context, they reportedly pointed to the necessity of launching air route between Dushanbe and Bangkok.

They also exchanged views on the high-level international conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Life”, 2005-2015, which is expected to take place in the Tajik capital from June 9-11 this year, the source said.

Born on April 2, 1955, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Her full ceremonial title is Somdech Phra Debaratanarajasuda Chao Fa Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Rathasimagunakornpiyajat Sayamboromrajakumari, which was bestowed upon her on 5 December 1977.  Thais commonly refer to her by reducing such title to “Phra Thep”, meaning “princess angel”.   Her title in Thai is the female equivalent of the title held by her brother, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.   The Thai constitution was altered in 1974 to allow for female succession, thus making her eligible for the throne.

As the eldest female child of the royal family (excluding Ubol Ratana, who married a foreign commoner), her position is comparable to a princess royal.
