DUSHANBE, May 25, 2015, Asia-Plus — A court in the Dushanbe military garrison has ordered the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) to pay compensation to the soldier who was seriously injured in hazing incident.

We will recall that Shahbol Mirzoyev suffered severe spinal injuries and became paralyzed as the result of bullying in March last year.

The Dushanbe military court sentenced a military doctor Usmonali Ghairatov to nine years in jail for seriously damaging Mirzoyev’s health on June 19, 2014.  Ghairatov was found guilty of hazing, inflicting bodily harm, and leaving a serviceman in danger.

The court also ruled that Ghairatov must pay 8,000 somoni to Shahbol Mirzoyev”s relatives to compensate for moral damages, and 5,700 somoni to cover Mirzoyev”s treatment in hospital.

Meanwhile, Shahbol Mirzoyev’s relatives in November last year demanded 241,000 somoni from the Main Border Guard Directorate in compensation for moral and material damages.

Lawyer Dilshod Jourayev, who represents Mirzoyev’s family, said they demanded 97,000 somoni in moral damages and 144,000 somoni in material damages.

The Dushanbe military court today ordered the Border Guard Directorate to pay 117,265 somoni to Shahbol Mirzoyev for moral and material damages.  97,265 should be paid for material damages and 20,000 somoni should be paid for moral damages.
