DUSHANBE, June 30, 2015, Asia-Pus — Members of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have voted unanimously for ratification of a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and the United State on taxation of local staff of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.

A regular sitting of the first session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on June 30.

Speaking at the session, Deputy Foreign Minister Parviz Davlatzoda noted that the agreement was signed here in late June by U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Susan M. Elliott and Chairman of the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan Nusratullo Davlatzoda.

Under this agreement, local staff of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe will pay annually a total of about 400,000 U.S. dollars in income taxes into Tajik budget, Parviz Davlatzoda said.

Earlier, Tajik parliament had ratified a similar agreement signed between the Government of Tajikistan and the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.  Local staff of the OSCE Office will pay annually a total of more than 350,000 U.S. dollars in income taxes into Tajik budget.
