Tajik enterprises’ debts decreased by almost 32 percent or 27.8 billion somonis (equivalent to about 2.5 billion U.S. dollars) in a year to December 31, 2021, according to the Agency for Statistics under the Government of Tajikistan.
As of January 1, 2022, debts of enterprises and organizations of Tajikistan reportedly amounted to little more than 60.5 billion somonis (equivalent to US$5.4 billion at the exchange rate at the beginning of 2022).
As of January 1, 2021, the debts of the country’s enterprises and organizations amounted to 88.3 billion somonis (equivalent to more than 7.8 billion U.S. dollars).
Outstanding arrears reportedly account for only 3.7 percent (about 2.3 billion somonis) in the structure of accounts payable of Tajikistan’s enterprises and organizations.
More than half of the unprofitable enterprises are located in Dushanbe and adjacent districts and cities.
Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s national power utility company) remains the largest debtor among the country’s enterprises. Its debts have amounted to about 32.2 billion somonis as of January 1 this year.
Meanwhile, the share of unprofitable enterprises and organizations decreased during last year from 25 percent to 19 percent.
These are mainly enterprises operating in the mining industry, construction, transportation and communications sectors.
According to official statistical data, about 800 enterprises with public participation have been registered in Tajikistan. the largest of them are: Tajik Aluminum Company (100%); Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) NBO Roghun (95%); JOSK Tojiktransgaz (100%); OJSC Tajiktelecom (95%); Barqi Tojik’s subdivisions (100%); OJSC Dushanbe International Airport; OJSC Tajik Air (100%); and OJSC Tajik Cement (100%).
