Tajik President, Supreme Commander Emomali Rahmon congratulated the officers and men with the 20th anniversary of the National Guard of Tajikistan founding.

A solemn meeting on the occasion of this date was held this morning in a state complex “Kohi Borbad”.

As reports the press service of the head of state, in his speech to the participants of the festive meeting Emomali Rahmon has congratulated the staff of the National Guard and all the people of the republic with the anniversary of the National Guard.

The President reminded that the National Guard of Tajikistan was formed in the difficult years of the civil war in the country and traversed a glorious path of development.

Solemn meeting ended with a festive concert of famous artists of the country, reports the presidential press service.

Tajik National Guard was formed in September 1995. The first commander of the Presidential Guard was Ghaffor Mirzoyev, who directed it until 2004.

In January 2004, it was renamed to the National Guard and its commander was appointed Radzhabali Rahmonali.

On November 20, 2013, by the Decree of the President of Tajikistan the National Guard commander was appointed a Major General Bobodzhon Dzhamolzoda, the former commander of a military unit of the National Guard.
