Russian Jet Su-24 shot down in Syria

DUSHANBE, November 24, 2015, Asia-plus – “Today, as most likely a result of a strike from the ground Russian jet Su-24 crashed in the territory of Syria,” Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated on November 24.

According to the preliminary data, the pilots managed to eject from the warplane.

According to the preliminary reports, the plane was gunned down from the ground.

The plane was reportedly located at an altitude of 6,000 meters.  The circumstances of the plane”s crash are under investigation. The Russian Ministry of Defense notes that during the flight the plane stayed strictly within Syrian airspace and the flight was logged.

Two Turkish residents were injured by falling debris from the downed Russian bomber,

reports that Turkish fighter jets shot down a Russian-made warplane near the Syrian border on Tuesday after repeatedly warning it over air space violations.  

Turkish presidential sources reportedly said the warplane was a Russian-made SU-24.  The Turkish military, which did not confirm the plane”s origin, said it had been warned 10 times in the space of five minutes about violating Turkish airspace, according to

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the warplane crashed in a mountainous area in the northern countryside of Latakia province, where there had been aerial bombardment earlier and where pro-government forces have been battling insurgents on the ground.
