DUSHANBE, January 21, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today held a meeting to review the results of the past year’s work and anti-crisis measures, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda reported on the results of the past year’s work.
He, in particular, noted that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year stood at 48.4 billion somoni.
According to him, the revenue part of the budget last year received 16.6 billion somoni, which was 100 percent of the target.
The prime minister noted that 468 new industrial enterprises were introduced into operation last year that made it possible to create 9,000 new jobs.
Tajikistan’s electricity exports last year reportedly rose 5.5 percent compared to 2014, reaching 1.4 billion kWh.
Agricultural production last year increased by 3.2 percent compared to 2014, Rasoulzoda noted.
Meanwhile, President Rahmon noted that although last year was successful for the country’s economy, this year would be hard.
This year, the socioeconomic situation around the world, including CIS nations, will be complicated, the president said.
In this connection, he urged ministers and heads of the provinces, cities and districts to take adequate measures to increase production of domestic goods, especially import substitution products.
Rahmon ordered the government to take all necessary measures to support the national currency, the somoni, and fill domestic market with all necessary products.
