DUSHANBE, February 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – Jamshed Nourmahmadzoda, the head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), yesterday met here with Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Hojjatollah Faghani.
According to the NBT press center, Tajik central bank head asked Iranian diplomat to contribute to expansion of Tajikistan-Iran cooperation in the banking sector.
Ambassador Faghani reportedly noted that Iranian investors were ready to expand economic cooperation with Tajikistan.
With the lifting of sanctions Iran’s opportunities to expand bilateral economic cooperation with Tajikistan have increased, Iranian diplomat noted.
He further stressed that Iranian banks operating in Tajikistan planned to open their branches and representative offices in the cities and districts of the country with support from Tajik central bank.
The branch of Iran’s Tejarat Bank has operated in Tajikistan since 1995.
Tejarat Bank was established as per Legal Bill of Department of Banks Affairs approved in September 1979 upon amalgamation of eleven private banks that became twelve banks by joining Iran-Russia Bank on December 20, 1979.
