Austrian company seeks cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of transportation

DUSHANBE, April 11, 2016, Asia-Plus – Representatives of Austrian company, Strabag SE, were in Dushanbe last week to discuss cooperation, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

An official source at a MoT says they have met with First Deputy Minister of Transport, Suhrob Mirzoyev.

The meeting reportedly focused on issues related to cooperation in the field of transport and participation of the Austrian company in implementation of the infrastructure development projects in Tajikistan.

Strabag SE is a European construction company based in Villach, Austria, with its headquarters in Vienna.  It is the largest construction company in Austria and one of the largest construction companies in Europe.  The company is active in its home markets Austria and Germany and in all countries of Eastern and South-East Europe, in selected markets in Western Europe, on the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in Canada, Chile, China and India.  In these markets STRABAG has subsidiaries or operates on a project-basis.

The business has its origins in two businesses: Lerchbaumer, founded in 1835 by Anton Lerchbaumer and known as ILBAU from 1954 and Strassenwalzenbetrieb, founded 1895, and known as STRABAG from 1930.  These two businesses came under the common ownership of BIBAG Bauindustrie Beteiligungs Aktiengesellschaft (subsequently renamed STRABAG SE).
