Prosecutor asks for life imprison for one of assailants attacking recruitment officers

DUSHANBE, April 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – On April 17, a prosecutor in the trial of assailants attacking recruitment officers in Dushanbe asked for life imprisonment for Umedjon Amrokhon, who is the main defendant, according to the

Umedjon Amrokhon and five other young men are standing trial for attacking four officers from the military registration and enlistment office in Dushanbe’s Sino district, killing two of them.

The prosecutor also asked the Dushanbe city court to sentence Navrouzjon Mirzoyev and Odiljon Mirzoyev to five years in prison each, and Jumakhon Davlatsho, Shohinjon Safarov and Sharifjon Rahmatov to two years in prison each.

We will recall that two recruitment officers were stabbed to death in Dushanbe on November 7, 2015.   A group of unknown assailants with knives attacked four officers from the military registration and enlistment office in Dushanbe’s Sino district, killing two of them and seriously wounding another two.  The attack took place on the streets of Dushanbe.  The attack was reportedly not related to military”s 10-week conscription drive.

The In Interior Ministry offered a $10,000 reward for information leading the capture of the attackers.

On November 13, a 20-year-old resident of Kulob, Umedjon Amrokhon, was detained on suspicion of attacking the recruitment officers.  Later, five other assailants were detained as well.
