The identity of 516 inhabitants of Khatlon region of Tajikistan, participating in combat operations on the territory of other states, was established starting from 2014. This was announced by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon today, August 25, at the meeting with an asset of this region.

He noted that 164 people were arrested and 24 people have been already returned home.

The President, referring to the statistics stressed the increasing tendency of criminal cases perpetrated by the individual residents of Khatlon region, noting that since 2006 nearly 40 thousand crimes, in particular more than 7.7 thousand of serious crimes were recorded in this region.

According to E. Rakhmon more often in this period has been recorded crime with an extremist and terrorist nature, murder, illegal possession of firearms. “As a result of law enforcement checks were established and detained nine organized crime groups, which have committed grave and especially grave crimes,” he said.

The President, in order to reduce the levels of crime on Khatlon territory, instructed the law enforcement agencies to strengthen preventive work, especially in the direction of the fight against terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking and other transnational organized crimes, take necessary steps under the laws of the country.

Also Emomali Rakhmon noted the need to fence the young generation of Khatlon district from the negative impact of alien and dangerous currents and bring them up in the spirit of patriotism, respect and observance of the law rules.
