Zarafo Rahmoni – convicted member of banned in Tajikistan Islamic Renaissance Party was released on Amnesty. The only woman among the convicted activists of the IRPT, Z. Rahmoni was sentenced to two years of imprisonment with serving punishment in a colony, besides, she has four minor children.

Mahmad, son of Zarafo Rahmoni, told Radio Ozodi that his mother was released on Monday, September 5 and is now with her family. According to him, her health is not very good, so she needs to be treated for some time, and then she would be able to meet with the journalists.

Zarafo Rahmoni, the legal adviser of the IRPT, was arrested last year along with 13 senior members of the party, who were accused of collaboration with the group of ex-Deputy defense Minister Abduhalim Nazarzoda. In June this year they were all sentenced to the long terms of imprisonment.

Zarafo Rahmoni is liable to the Amnesty on all legal aspects in accordance with the requirements of article 1 and 7 of the law on Amnesty.
