Tajik parliament speaker awarded Badge of Honor of Russia’s Federation Council

Date:

Mr. Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, the head of Tajikistan’s upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, has been awarded the Badge of Honor of Russia’s Federation Council.

On Monday March 27, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev met with his Russian counterpart, Ms. Valentina Matviyenko (chairperson of the Federation Council), in St. Petersburg on the sidelines of the spring session of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS).

In the course of the talks, Matviyenko, in particular, underlined the significance of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly as an international integration association and an important platform for dialogue, according to the IPA’s website.

“An intensive dialogue between our countries allows exchanging views on the most important issues of the bilateral agenda,” Matviyenko said.

She noted that the Tajik delegation always took an active part in the IPA CIS activities.

For his part, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that the IPA CIS was one of the most significant platforms for inter-parliamentary dialogue.

The Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko awarded the Tajik Majlisi Milli Chairman Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev the badge of honor “For Merits in Development of Parliamentarianism.”

Ubaidulloyev reportedly received the honor for his contribution to expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

Established in March 1995, the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly is a consultative parliamentary wing of the CIS created to discuss problems of parliamentary cooperation.
