Inflation in the consumer sector of Tajikistan slowed down in August. The inflation rate in August this year was 0.8%, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan.
In July this year, prices and tariffs in the country increased by 1.1%, which was a record high monthly inflation in the country since the beginning of this year.
In the first half of this year, inflation was only 0.8%: in January inflation was 0.4%, in April – 0.5%, in May – 0.6%, in June – 0.5%, and in February – March there were deflationary processes.
Thus, the inflation rate in Tajikistan for eight months of this year reached 2.8%.
The inflation this year was most strongly affected by the increase in tariffs for paid services, as well as the increase in prices for non-food products. Food, on the contrary, fell in price.
Increased the cost of travel by air, rail, as well as prices for liquefied gas.
The Government of Tajikistan plans to keep inflation at the level of no more than 7% by the end of this year. At the end of 2017, inflation in the country was 6.7%.
