Russian agricultural machinery exhibition kicks off in Dushanbe today

A large Russian agricultural machinery exhibition kicked off in Dushanbe on October 11.

Seventeen Russian companies such as Rostselmash, St. Petersburg tractor plant Kirovets, Volga combine plan Agromash, Melinvest, KamAZ, Tractor Limited Liability Company Uralets, engineering plants Bonum and Foxtank Motors and others are participating in the exhibition, dubbed Russian-Tajik Field Day.

They have put on display their achievements in production of agricultural machines at the fair that runs at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex through October 12.

According to Expocenter, the exhibition is one of the events held by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade to expand export destinations of Russian-made agricultural machinery, to help Russian machine builders to enter new markets, and to increase exports.

Tajikistan is a reliable partner of Russia.  The list of sectors in which Russian and Tajik companies cooperate is extensive: from mechanical engineering to IT technology, industrial cooperation, creation of joint ventures, projects to build new infrastructure facilities and modernize the existing ones, and much more.

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of economy in which Russia and Tajikistan have a long tradition of cooperation and good prospects for increasing supplies of not only food and agricultural products. Cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery is also growing.

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the country's agricultural fleet is in need of renewal, as most of the equipment is worn out.  More than 6,500 units or 24% of the total agricultural machinery in state-run and private farming units of the country are reportedly out of order.

Russian manufacturers are ready to increase the supply of agricultural machinery and equipment for processing of agricultural products to Tajikistan. However, solving this problem requires a comprehensive approach and the involvement of both Russian and Tajik governments and relevant agencies, leasing companies, and Russian and Tajik financial institutions, Expocenter says.

The event program includes meetings with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Embassy and Trade Office of Russia in Tajikistan, the Tajik Ministries of Agriculture and Economic Development, the Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Export Center, and leading players in the agricultural leasing and aftersales services market such as Tajikagroleasing, Agrotekhservice, Madadi Tursunzoda, and others.
