The Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption has instituted criminal proceedings against Saynouriddin Safarzoda, the senior specialist with the Supreme Court judicial control department.

According to the anticorruption agency’s press center, the criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 247 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud. Using his official position, Safarzoda reportedly promised his assistance to a certain citizen in solving problems related to the privatization of a car wash.  This case is currently under consideration at the Supreme Court.

Besides, Safarzoda has promised his assistance to a group of persons with early release of their relatives.  For this he has taken US$64,500 and 210,000 somonis from them 

The corrupt employee of the Supreme Court faces a jail term of twelve years.
