President Emomali Rahmon on Wednesday sent telegrams to Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Furnio Kishida expressing his condolences over the recent series of deadly earthquakes in western Japan, the Tajik president’s official website said.

Rahmon’s telegram of condolences to the Emperor of Japan, Honorable Naruhito, reads:

“Your Majesty,

“We were deeply saddened by the news of the severe earthquake in the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture, which caused the loss of life and a lot of property damage.

“In connection with this heavy tragedy, I would like to express my sincere sympathy and condolences to you, the friendly people of Japan and the relatives and friends of the deceased, and I wish a full recovery to all the injured.”

Tajik president’s telegram of condolences sent to the Prime Minister of Japan, Honorable Fumio Kishida, states:

“Your Excellency,

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the earthquake in the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture, which led to significant casualties and material damage.

“In connection with this great tragedy, I express my sincere condolences to you, the friendly people of Japan, and the relatives and friends of the deceased, and I wish a speedy and complete recovery to all the victims.”

Media reports say Japan was hit by 155 earthquakes since Monday including the main 7.6-magnitude jolt that struck Ishikawa and another over 6.  Most of the earthquakes were of magnitude higher than 3 on the Richter scale.  At least six strong jolts were felt on Tuesday.
