Tajikistan and Russia will jointly combat the wrong use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), in particular propagation of terrorism and extremism through Internet,  hacking of information infrastructure,  breach of public order, incitement of enmity between the peoples and so on.

An agreement on collaboration between the two countries in this area was endorsed by members of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament on December 22, 2023.

Presenting the agreement to lawmakers, the deputy head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), Mahmad Melikzoda, in particular, noted that the agreement regulates cooperation between the competent agencies of the two countries in coordinating joint actions to provide international information security and prevent crimes using ICTs as well as developing and implementing the necessary joint measures promoting information security.

He further noted that according to the analysis of crimes of a terrorist and extremist nature, most of the country's youth who have joined extremist organizations and movements,  were involved in them mainly through the Internet  during labor migration abroad.

A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on cooperation in providing international security was signed in Moscow on July 19, 2023.
