Tajik, Russian customs services agencies sign agreement on establishing simplified customs corridor

Asia-Plus

The customs services agencies of Tajikistan and Russia have signed an Agreement on Establishing a Simplified Customs Corridor, the press center of Tajikistan's Customs Service says.

The document was reportedly inked by Khurshed Karimzoda, Head of Tajikistan's Customs Service, and Valery Pikalyov, Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, on October 29 on sidelines of annual International Customs Forum that took place in Moscow on October 29-30.

"This agreement will create favorable conditions for low-risk trade, including for foreign economic activity participants, and will significantly speed up the movement of goods between the two countries," the press center says.

The simplified customs corridor (SCC) is an electronic system designed to advance the exchange of information about transported goods.

This year, the forum reportedly attracted 27 international delegations and over 1,500 representatives from federal government agencies, the business community, and experts in foreign economic activity.

The forum focused on new approaches to developing international trade under current geopolitical conditions and on measures supporting business.

At the session “Accelerating Cross-Border Operations – The Key to Developing New International Trade in Russia,” experts discussed improvements in cargo processing technologies and development of checkpoint infrastructure.

Roundtable discussions also covered topics such as international law enforcement cooperation, including efforts to combat drug and tobacco product smuggling.  The interactive exhibition area showcased modern transport and customs control technologies, as well as services for online payments and customs payment administration.
