Tajik state-run news agency Khovar reports that the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Qohir Rasoulzoda, began an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The welcoming ceremony took place in Tehran, followed by negotiations with Iran's First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref.
The Tajik Prime Minister reportedly emphasized that Iran holds a special place in Tajikistan’s system of international relations.
It was noted that under the leadership of Emomali Rahmon and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the bilateral trade between the two countries has been increasing, and relations in various sectors have significantly expanded.
Tajikistan and Iran have broad opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in hydropower, mining, construction, food and pharmaceutical industries, transport, agriculture, trade, and investment. The effective use of these opportunities and resources could lay a solid foundation for intergovernmental cooperation in various fields.
The signing of new cooperation agreements during the Iranian President's state visit to Tajikistan, which took place on January 15-17 this year, was seen as a strong basis for future intergovernmental relations.
Qohir Rasoulzoda expressed gratitude to the Iranian government for supporting Tajikistan’s global initiatives, Khovar reports.
Meanwhile, IRNA cited Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref as saying that political ties between Iran and Tajikistan are in their best shape.
He reportedly made the remarks to reporters yesterday after hosting Tajikistan’s PM Qohir Rasoulzoda. at the historical Sa’adabad Complex in northern Tehran.
Aref also said that practical measures would be implemented to enhance economic ties between the two countries.
Rasoulzoda is leading a high-ranking delegation to Tehran for a visit that Aref said has two main goals: to discuss bilateral relations and to participate in the Third Caspian Sea Economic Conference.
The vice president reportedly noted that his discussions with the Tajik prime minister primarily focused on economic relations, adding that they both agreed the Iranian and Tajik economies could “complement” each other.
“We can meet Tajikistan’s needs in various sectors,” Aref said.
Rasoulzoda, for his part, reportedly expressed confidence that the recent cooperation agreements, signed during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Tajikistan in January, would pave the way for the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
