In July 2008 there will be 9 million of cell phone users in Uzbekistan

In the first ten-days of July 2008 the number of mobile communication subscribers rose by 9 million in Uzbekistan, reported Jahon citing the Agency of Communication and Information of Uzbekistan. For over the past five years the mobile communication networks have been intensively developing. Number of cell phone users is rapidly growing. If in November 2005 the first million subscribers were registered than at the beginning of 2007 their number made up 2.5 million. For over 2007 the number of mobile communication subscribers increased by 3.1 million, at the end of the same year their number accounted for 5.8 million. In short, during 2007 the total number of mobile communication users doubled in

. For comparison – in 2006 the number of subscribers increased by 1.5 million. Thus, early 2008 the mobile communication subscribers accounted for about 6 million in

. For over the six months their number raised by more than 3 million, and the growth made up 50%. The penetration level of mobile communication in


Uzbekistan


by now has made up 33.3%. Given such growth rate for over an entire year the number of mobile communication subscribers may exceed 12 million users by early 2009.
