Kyrgyzstan to increase gold production up to 30 tons by 2011

Kyrgyzstan plans to increase gold production rates up to 30 tons per year by 2011, head of the State Agency of Geology and Mineral Resources, Kapar Kurmanailev.

The official believes it is possible to accomplish goal if five major Kyrgyz gold fields – Taldy-Bulak, Levoberejniy, Jerooy, Andash and Bozunchak are set operational and produce up to 15 tons of gold per year. The rest of the gold volume is expected to be gained by means of the Kumtor gold mine, the Kyrgyz biggest project of this sphere. Geological research unveiled that the average gold reserves in Kyrgyzstan totals to 420 tons.

The Andash gold mine is expected to start operating in 12-14 months, while Jerooy – by the end 2010.
