Turkmenistan has put forward a proposal to boost the capacity of a planned Caspian gas pipeline by increasing supply of hydrocarbons from Turkmen fields. The proposal was made at a tripartite meeting on the Caspian gas pipeline project in Almaty. Delegations of Turkmengas state concern, Russian Gazprom and Kazakhstan”s KazMunaiGaz company attended the meeting.
According to Turkmenistan, the gas pipeline”s capacity can be increased by bringing in foreign companies operating in Turkmenistan under PSA, including Malaysia”s Petronas, which is steadily increasing gas production.
Turkmenistan has also invited all interested partners to join projects on development of gas pipeline infrastructure, including reconstruction of old and construction of new compressor stations and units for gas preparation as well as forming an electrochemical protection system along the gas pipeline route.
