Inflation rate to reach 10% in Kazakhstan in 2009

Growth in consumer prices in Kazakhstan in 2009 will reach 10% in Kazakhstan in 2009, Statcommittee of the CIS analysts predict.

The highest inflation rate among the countries of the Commonwealth this year is expected in Azerbaijan and Ukraine – 18%. Inflation rate in Tajikistan will make up 15%, Kyrgyzstan – 13%, Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan – 11%, Moldova and Kazakhstan – 10%.

The lowest increase in inflation rate in 2009 among the CIS countries is expected in Armenia – 6 – 7%. On average, inflation rate for the CIS countries will amount to 11 – 12% in 2009.

However, according to the Statcommittee of the CIS, the real growth in gross domestic product (GDP) of Tajikistan, along with Uzbekistan and Armenia, will be 7% in 2009.

Higher GDP growth is projected in Azerbaijan – 13 – 15% and Belarus – 9 – 10%. In Russia and Kyrgyzstan, GDP growth rate will be 6%, in Moldova – 5 – 6%, in Kazakhstan and Ukraine – 5%.
