Presidential nominees’ list to be voiced up to June 17, 2009

Names of all candidates for the Kyrgyz president’s post, allowed to election process will be voiced up to June 17, 2009. By that time, the Central Election Commission should register all the nominees and then publish the list in mass media within five days, the Kyrgyz Central Election and Referendum Commission said on Thursday, March 26.

As Chief of the CEC Damir Lisovskiy said, even those citizens who are under investigation at the time but not sentenced yet can run as candidates. Meanwhile the nominees have an opportunity to withdraw their candidacy or party can withdraw its candidate up to July 19, 2009.

Nomination of candidates for the president’s post should be finished up to May 18, 2009. Signature-gathering campaign should be ended in June 2. The nominees have to submit all necessary for registration documents including election pledge checks up to June 7.

Besides, presidential nominees should pass Kyrgyz language exam, which will be in a live television broadcast of the NTRC.
