The Western Union money transfer system”s regional director for Central Asia, Jalil Haydarov, has confirmed problems with paying cash to clients in Uzbekistan. This problem is acute in regions.
The company blamed the problem on money shortages in banks that are involved in the Western Union money transfer system.
Banks insistently advise clients to open up accounts and transfer their money them, however, Western Union, failed to specify which of its 23 partner banks were postponing payments in such way.
This contradicts the rules under which the company operates and is very inconvenient for Uzbeks who receive remittances from their relatives working abroad because they need to spend the money now not save it for a rainy day.
