DUSHANBE, June 25, 2012, Asia-Plus — The United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) with support of the US government organizes a seminar entitled “Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation on Trans-boundary Water Resources in Central Asia: the Way Forward Following the 6th World Water Forum” in Kyrgyzstan (Issyk-Kul Lake) on June 25-26, 2012.
The UNRCCA press center reports that in the course of a two-day seminar, participants will discuss the outcomes of the 6th World Water Forum held in Marseille (France) and in this regard review various models of multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the management of trans-boundary water resources in Central Asia. Participants will be familiarized with new aspects of international practices regarding the management of trans-boundary water resources using examples of negotiations in this field. Also, discussions will continue on practical details of the publication of a regional early warning bulletin for Central Asia.
High level representatives of relevant authorities of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, senior officials from various UN agencies and regional organizations as well as international experts will take part in the event.
