Payment of quarterly bonuses to public servants in Kyrgyzstan suspended for the purchase of military drones

Kyrgyz media reports say no salary increase is planned in the country in 2023.

Recall, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov noted at a meeting of Parliament in late November last year quarterly bonuses to public servants are also planned to be cut.

24.kg reported on January 17 that the payment of quarterly bonuses to public servants in Kyrgyzstan has been suspended for the purchase of military drones.

The head of the information policy service at president’s administration Dayyrbek Orunbekov was cited saying that the decision to suspend the payment of quarterly bonuses to public servants was made at the end of last year.

He was cited as saying that after the clash in Batken a special attention is given to the strengthening of the armed forces and the defense.  The bonuses that were paid to public servants are aimed at strengthening the security of the country, Orunbekov said.

“Previously, drones Bairaknar, Aksungur, Akinci and Anka had purchased and delivered to Kyrgyzstan. If the state fails to ensure its security, quarterly bonuses and allowances will cost nothing.  Therefore, the grievances of some colleagues about the deprivation of bonuses are inappropriate,” Orunbekov wrote on his Facebook page, according to 24.kg.
